The female form has long embodied strength, vulnerability, and resilience—enduring themes at the heart of my artistic practice. Through sculpture, I explore identity, empowerment, and human connection, inviting viewers into a more intimate dialogue with these ideas.

I earned my BFA in Sculpture from the University of Washington in 2003, with a concentration in metal casting. Early in my studies, I encountered the work of surrealist artists like Alberto Giacometti, whose raw, expressive figures affirmed that art need not strive for perfection or realism to carry emotional weight. That influence stayed with me as I continued my studies in Rome, where I became deeply engaged with the relationship between classical sculpture, ruins, and the natural world—the quiet, inevitable collaboration between time, decay, and form. Traveling throughout Europe expanded this fascination and helped shape the visual and conceptual language of my work.

In 2009, I transitioned primarily to clay, drawn to its tactile immediacy and capacity to express movement, texture, and form. This shift aligned with a broader evolution in my practice—toward work that feels grounded, intuitive, and elemental.

I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, where the varied landscapes left a lasting impression on my sense of place and purpose. Though my childhood was marked by frequent moves and emotional instability, I found steadiness in the natural world. The forests, coastlines, and quiet complexity of the region shaped my early relationship to beauty and solitude. I spent long hours outdoors—observing insect habitats, breathing fresh air, and listening deeply. Though I had little exposure to galleries or the broader art world until college, my early environment nurtured a hands-on, exploratory approach to making.

As the only girl among four siblings and raised within the framework of Catholicism, I often grappled with questions of identity and belonging. A sense of dislocation and loss fueled my restlessness and independence. As a freshman at the University of Washington, I joined the crew team—despite having no prior experience—and earned a spot on the second novice boat. My father, a former UW football national champion and my closest source of support, was proud. In time, however, I felt pulled toward a different path—one that required stepping away from school to explore life more fully. I spent time in Colorado and San Diego, and later traveled solo across the U.S.—a pivotal journey that brought me back to art with greater clarity and intention.

In 2005, I co-founded the Twilight Artist Collective—first at Pike Place Market and later in West Seattle—supporting hundreds of emerging artists until 2012. That experience laid the foundation for my next creative endeavor: Since 2014, I have stewarded the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall, “Purveyors of the Rare and Sublime,” where I foster an accessible, inclusive creative community. Here, I also run an art gallery out of a restored 1951 Spartan Royal Mansion trailer, exhibiting the work of over 35 local artists.

In 2015, I founded Pugmill Society, a ceramic collective based at Equinox Studios in Seattle. Today, I continue to create within this vibrant and radical community of makers.

Art remains both my rebellion and my redemption—a lifelong practice of piecing myself back together. My work can currently be seen at Domicile, The Royal Mansion Gallery, and Pugmill Society.
